Book Review: Brave, Not Perfect

With a title that says it all, Brave, Not Perfect implores women to think about what life would be like without the fear of failure. Saujani explains that as women, we are conditioned to please those around us and to succeed at everything, leaving us crushed under the weight of our own expectations. She refers to it as being a "prisoner of your own perfectionism".

Her wise words make us consider what life could be like if instead, women were urged to take chances, embrace their true passions, and find their power - we would no longer be choosing the path that feels safe, but the one that makes us happy. She reminds us that we have the ability to break out of the habit that leaves us searching for perfection, and teaches us to follow our dreams instead, by being brave.

Through different insights and practices, she points us in the direction of a bold, unfiltered, unapologetic, and authentic life. An absolute favourite book of mine, this book calls out the very thing every women is afraid to admit - that their life is governed by the need and expectation that they must be perfect. This book will absolutely be the push towards bravery that will help you embrace that failure is what allows us to shine.
